Daniel A. Rykhus
President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Rykhus became the company's President and Chief Executive Officer in 2010. He joined Raven in 1990 as Director of World Class Manufacturing, was General Manager of the Applied Technology Division from 1998 through 2009, and served as Executive Vice President from 2004 through 2010. During his tenure as CEO, Raven has nearly doubled its revenue and become an increasingly global company.
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Iacarella joined Raven in 1991 as Corporate Controller and has been the company's Chief Financial Officer since 1998. Prior to joining the company, he held positions with Tonka Corporation and the accounting firm now known as EY. Tom’s efforts led Forbes to select Raven as one of “America’s 100 Most Trustworthy Companies” in 2014. Forbes looked at over 60 different governance and forensic accounting measures to select companies for the list.
Mark L. West
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. West joined Raven in 1982 as a Project Engineer and served as the President and Chief Engineer for Raven Aerostar from 1986 to 2010, at which point he was named Chief Technology Officer. Throughout his tenure at Raven, Mark made many contributions in the world of hot air balloons, scientific research balloons for NASA, tethered aerostats, parachutes and airships. In 2004, he was awarded the Montgolfier Diploma from the FAI for his contributions to the technology of ballooning. Mark also served 30 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve and retired with the rank of Captain.
Vice President of Human Resources
Ms. Matthiesen began at Raven in September 2010 as Director of Administration and brought 18 years of government contracting experience through her work with the Department of the Interior's U.S. Geological Survey and the Department of Defense. Matthiesen was named Vice President of Human Resources in April 2012. Prior to joining Raven, Matthiesen was a Human Resource Manager at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). During her tenure at Raven, Matthiesen led the effort to implement a Human Resources Information System, modernize the company’s policies and procedures, and redevelop the job classification structure.
Stephanie Herseth Sandlin
General Counsel & Vice President of Corporate Development
Ms. Herseth Sandlin joined Raven in August 2012. Prior to joining Raven, Ms. Herseth Sandlin was a partner at a law firm in Washington, D.C., and served as South Dakota’s lone member of the United States House of Representatives from 2004-2011. During her tenure at Raven, Herseth Sandlin has established a legal and regulatory compliance department and has helped shape the Company’s enterprise risk management system.
Chief Information Officer
Mr. Meyer began at Raven in 2010 as Chief Information Officer and shortly thereafter added Head of Facilities to his responsibilities. Before joining Raven, Meyer spent 13 years as an operations and information technology executive for the health insurance industry and 12 years as a VP of Systems Development in the property casualty insurance industry. During his tenure at Raven, Brian revamped the IT infrastructure and successfully implemented a general ledger system.
Division Vice President & General Manager – Aerostar
Mr. Stroschein was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Aerostar Division in October 2010. He began at Raven in 2008 as International Sales Manager for Applied Technology Division. Before joining Raven, Stroschein spent five years as a bank executive and five years as a Senate aide to a United States Senator. Stroschein has led the division through the acquisition of Vista Research, which has grown 40% in each of the last two years, and has grown the division from a $27MM to over $100MM in FY13.
Division Vice President & General Manager – Applied Technology
Mr. Burkhart was named Vice President and General Manager for the Applied Technology Division in February 2010. He started at Raven as Director of Sales in 2008. Prior to joining Raven, Burkhart was a Branch Manager for Johnson Controls. During his tenure as GM for the Applied Technology Division, ATD has doubled sales and nearly tripled profits while expanding Raven’s international presence to some 57 countries on five continents.
Division Vice President & General Manager – Engineered Films
Mr. Schmidt was appointed Vice President and General Manager for the Engineered Films Division in February 2012. He joined Raven in 1995 in the Applied Technology Division performing leadership roles in manufacturing and engineering. He transitioned to Engineered Films Division in September 2011 as Manufacturing Manager.
