Raven Hosts Alumni Panel for 2020 Summer Interns

Inside Raven

Year after year, Raven is committed to providing an internship experience that is both challenging and engaging for all of our #RavInterns. One way we are committed to doing so is by hosting intern learning sessions once a week throughout the summer. These sessions capitalize on topics that are relevant and relatable to the interns as students and developing professionals. The topics are designed to increase business acumen, deepen knowledge and understanding of Raven values, and help to prepare interns for upcoming job opportunities.

To kick off our summer 2020 internship program, we hosted a Raven Intern Alumni Panel, in which we had five Raven team members who started their careers at Raven as interns join and share about their experiences with our intern class. On the panel, representing all three Raven Business Units, was Luke Pucket (Engineering Team Lead), Brian Prchal (Design Engineer), Eric Schmid (Product Development Engineer), Nic Westerman (Software Engineer), and Tyler Afdahl (Systems Engineer). The panelists answered questions on a variety of topics ranging from how their internship prepared them for their career, what they learned in their internship that couldn’t be taught in the classroom, how they knew Raven was the ”right” fit, and much more.

The panelists shared in-depth insight into what their own career path has looked like, lessons they have learned, and tips on how to make the most out of their internship. Something they all agreed on was that Raven has always been committed to providing valuable and meaningful work for the interns. At the end of the day, it is our goal that each of the interns has the opportunity to engage in solving real challenges. In addition, Luke added great insight when he shared that beyond the internship, “Raven wants you to be a well-rounded individual.” Raven challenges all team members to engage in continuing personal development, and we feel these learning sessions provide a great channel for that.

For the final question, I asked each panelist what ‘Solving Great Challenges’ meant to them. It was exciting to see all of their eyes light up as they shared how that mission statement comes to life every single day they come to work. It is my hope that our #RavInterns will experience that same excitement as they see how pivotal their individual role is here at Raven."
